United State’s Agency of International Development (USAID) has granted a award to Development Project Service Centre (DEPROSC-Nepal) to implement ‘USAID’s Business Literacy Program in Nepal’ in the 20 western, mid-western and far western districts effective from March 01, 2014 for a period of three years. This is a part of USAID’s Feed the Future (FTF) Project, a U.S. Government Presidential Initiative. The primary objective of the USAID’s Business Literacy Program in Nepal is to increase the resilience of vulnerable households and communities through enhanced literacy, numeracy and business/entrepreneurial skills.

1. Position: Outreach & Communication Officer, Central Office, Kathmandu (One)

Major Roles & Responsibilities:

    • Actively support the DEPROSC’s efforts to raise the USAID’s profile in Business Literacy – Nepal through public information dissemination.
    • Assist Program Manager in improving the efficient and effective production and delivery of public information to target audiences through digital and print channels
    • Support the development of an outreach & communication strategy for major events.
    • Write and edit, to established deadlines, public information content for print and digital distribution.
    • Facilitate Regional Managers and DPOs to organize district stakeholders meeting in all 20 districts for two time,
    • Facilitate, coordinate and organize to develop Audio-visuals of the program and telecast through national television channels,
    • Help purchase Flex board & develop signage and ensure all Flex boards are placed properly in the beneficiaries training venue,
    • Produce Audio drama and perform all required activities to broadcast through FM,
    • Facilitate for the Documentary production to suit the local context and arrange the dissemination through local cable,
    • Support PM and other team members to organize formal Launch & Closure events of the program,
    • Support Regional team to organize regional level inception & closing events,
    • Implement outreach and communications activities robustly including, but not limited to, press statements, publish calendar and ensure distribution at the beneficiaries training sites in time,
    • Maintain relation with the media (print and electronic) to periodically produce and publish news of the program events and results with the consent of USAID.
    • Organize and/or facilitate for local and central news reporters field visits,
    • Develop and collect matters and maintain a separate space within the website of DEPROSC -Nepal about the USAID’s Business Literacy Program in Nepal,
    • Arrange and negotiate with Telecom companies to send mobile SMS to beneficiaries to aware them on international celebration days such as International Women’s day, HIV/AIDS day, Nutrition day, DRR day etc.
    • Open and maintain social network web like facebook of DEPROSC-Nepal with the progress, achievements, interesting cases of gender and social inclusion, entrepreneurship development, photos of program, message of major events for wider sharing.
    • Coordinate with Subcontractor to ensure newsletters for all beneficiaries and other stakeholders prepared and circulated,

Qualification & Experience:

      • University (or equivalent) degree in communication/journalism/international relations/political sciences/technical writing.
      • Minimum of three years of working experience with increasing responsibilities in public affairs, communications and related fields, specifically demonstrating capabilities to effectively write, edit and present public information on complex subjects for print and digital media.
      • Experience in developing content that may utilize social media, multimedia, apps and web publishing tools.
      • Experience in supervising editorial production of print and public information products, including publications in multiple language editions.

2. Admin/ Finance Assistant, Central Office, Kathmandu (One)

Major Roles & Responsibilities:

      • Maintain financial records and monitoring systems to record and reconcile expenditures, balances, payments, statements and other data for day-to-day transactions and reports.
      • Select and enter data from a wide variety of documents, verifying accuracy by checking sources, making necessary calculations and assuring inclusion of all relevant data.
      • Prepare recurring reports as scheduled and special reports as required for budget preparation, financial planning, audits or other reasons.
      • Maintain liaison with officials of local banks to obtain day-to-day information on banking transactions.
      • Prepare detailed cost estimates and participate in budget analysis and projections as required.
      • Coordinate closely with Finance Unit for all finance related issues.

Qualification & Experience:

  • University (or equivalent) degree in commerce/ management/ finance.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in related field.
