The Identification of Strategic Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFPs) for the IFAD-supported Western Uplands Poverty Alleviation Programme (WUPAP), Nepal, was a multilateral project funded by IFAD. The International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), an intergovernmental organization, led the project implementation in partnership with DEPROSC-Nepal and Dabur Nepal Pvt. Ltd.

| Achievements | Trial plots were established for medicinal herbs, namely Akarkara, Chiraito, Sugandhawal, Kutki, Lauth Salla, Kuth, and Atis, at two sites in Humla and Jumla districts. Plantation, hoeing, and weeding activities in the demonstration plots were carried out by poor and disadvantaged women from marginalized communities. A herbal garden was established in Simkot VDC of Humla District. A number of training programmes were organized at community, district, and central levels to transfer technology and skills related to nursery establishment, greenhouse construction and management, propagation, cultivation, and management of NTFPs and Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (MAPs). |
