Food Assistance for Conflict/Flood-Affected Populations of East Nepal responded to the breach of the Koshi River’s eastern embankment, which caused massive flooding in 3 VDCs of Sunsari district and displaced almost 45,000 people from the area. DEPROSC-Nepal was responsible for receiving, storing, handling and distributing food assistance from WFP. It established a relief operation office and Extended Delivery Point at Rajbiraj in Saptari district and ran relief operations for people displaced within the Saptari area.

| Achievements | General food was distributed to 34,728 IDPs in the initial stage, with the figure continuing to change as conditions improved in the flood-affected areas. Nearly, 12,000 people from 2,000 Indian families who had crossed into safe areas of Nepal were also served without discrimination. In addition, 5,300 pregnant and lactating mothers and children under 5 years of age received supplementary feeding through feeding centers and take-home rations. Food was distributed over 9 rounds during the response period, totaling 3,070.024 MT — comprising 2,976.971 MT of GFD, 90.135 MT of WSB and 2.918 MT of oil — for wet feeding and take-home rations. |
