Community Shallow Tubewell Irrigation Project (CSTIP)
The Community Shallow Tube Well Irrigation Project (CSTIP) was one of the two components of the Groundwater Irrigation and Flood Rehabilitation Project, which was appraised in December 1993. The project implemented by Department of Irrigation (DOI) in five districts of the Terai region: three districts in the Eastern Terai (Sunsari, Saptari, and Siraha) and two districts in the Central Terai (Sarlahi and Rautahat) was under the loan agreement with the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) served as the Cooperating Institution responsible for the supervision and loan administration of the CSTIP.

| Achievements | During the fiscal year 1998/99, 196 Shallow Tube Wells (STWs) were manually drilled through DEPROSC-Nepal’s social mobilization efforts. Similarly, a total of 307 STWs were installed during the review period of 1999/2000. |
