Institution Development And Capacity Enhancement Program for Leasehold Forestry Cooperative Limited
The Institution Development and Capacity Enhancement Program for Leasehold Forestry Multipurpose Cooperatives Ltd. (LFMCL) in the Dhading, Tanahun, and Makwanpur districts was implemented by DEPROSC-Nepal with financial support from the Hills Leasehold Forestry and Forage Development Project (HLFFDP). The programme was implemented in HLFFDP project sites across the three districts, excluding the areas covered by the Small Farmer Development Program (SFDP) of the Agriculture Development Bank/Nepal.

| Achievements | Formed inter-groups of Leasehold Forestry Groups (LFGs). Institutionalized the inter-groups into Leasehold Forestry Multipurpose Cooperatives Ltd. (LFMCLs). Conducted Cooperative Orientation Training for the inter-groups. Enabled Leasehold Forestry Multipurpose Cooperatives Ltd. (LFMCLs) to provide microfinance services. Supported LFG members in establishing their own enterprises. Promoted the development and management of leased land for income generation. Implemented a community-based livestock insurance scheme. Enabled Leasehold Forestry Multipurpose Cooperatives Ltd. (LFMCLs) to provide marketing services for agricultural commodities and production inputs. Strengthened the sustainability and institutional viability of the LFMCLs. |
