Donor Embassy of Denmark & IFAD Start date March 2006 End date March 2009 Project Districts Humla, Jumla, Bajhang, Bajura Achievements Identified 39,991 Ha. lease land in working four districts Bajhang, Bajura, Humla and Jumla. Adopted social mobilization process and selected target beneficiaries as well as organized them into 347 LFUGs and handed over the 6659.36 Ha. Lease land to 5595 targeted members. Categorized all LFUG into three categories A, B and C based on fertility of land, slope, potentiality of irrigation, crown coverage etc. Technical support was provided to prepare the operational plan for above mention no of LFUGs. 14 events of account and bookkeeping training organized for LFUGs secretaries and treasures in four districts. 301 Kg. of vegetable seeds, 248 she-goats, and 24 bucks were supported for income generation. 13 events of animal health campaigns were conducted. 4 events of exposure visits were conducted for cross-learning and study of the proper utilization of leased land. 4 events of nursery establishment and management training were organized. 8 Timber and NTFP nurseries were established to produce essential no of seedlings to plant on the leased land. 56 events of Land Management, 16 events of NTFP cultivation and management training were also provided to improve the lease land and plant timber, fruits and NTFPs as well as Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (MAPs). 76.25 Ha. land was managed and improved terracing as well as planted MAPs. Similarly, fruit, fodder and NTFPs seedlings were planted in 136.55 Ha. NRs 4,940,735 was generated as savings by LFUG members and mobilized. NRs. 3,280,000 was received as a loan from LDF by LFUG members and mobilized that for income-generating activities. Monitoring of LFUGs and technical backstopping was provided to them as well as supported to DFO for implementation of each activity of the leasehold forestry and NTFPs production component of the project.
