Nepal Earthquake Recovery and Reconstruction Program

Donor OXFAM Start date April 2017 End date March 2018 Project Districts Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur Achievements Intervened targeted participants with livelihood grants and sectoral trainings like poultry and kitchen garden for landless or marginal landholders, agriculture input support and trainings for households whose main source of livelihood is agriculture, business development training along with business support grant for households with main sources of livelihood as small enterprises.
Supported in rehabilitation and restoration of community assets like irrigation canal, market infrastructure like collection centre, coffee pulping centre that were damaged during the earthquake. Further, project also supported in repair and maintenance of rural roads and drinking water systems through cash for work and cash for assets integrating vulnerable households in the program.
Identified and intervened 14,956 socially excluded vulnerable households through the implementation of on farm and off farm livelihood activities in order to increase their ability to restore, develop and sustain a resilient livelihood.
In total, 9 irrigation canal, 5 agriculture infrastructure, 2 drinking water schemes were restored during the project period. Further, 28 schemes on debris clearance of road, 2 schemes on school maintenance, 9 schemes on irrigation canal repair and maintenance were done through cash for work/cash for assets.
