Emergency Response to Nepal Earthquake Kathmandu Valley

Donor OXFAM Start date May 2015 End date March 2017 Project Districts Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur Achievements Identified and intervened 14,956 socially excluded vulnerable households through implementation of on-farm and off-farm livelihood activities increasing their ability to restore, develop and sustain a resilient livelihood.
In total, 9 irrigation canals, 5 agriculture infrastructures, 2 drinking water schemes were restored during the project period. Further, 28 schemes on debris clearance of road, 2 schemes on school maintenance, 9 schemes on irrigation canal repair and maintenance were done through cash for work/cash for assets.
Trained 22 participants on mason trainings in coordination with NRA professionals from Godavari municipality.
Production of CSEB block (alternative construction material) by local cooperatives. Trained 10 local masons on building houses using CSEB block. Further, a model house was built using CSEB block to aware, educate and sensitize local communities on alternative construction materials.
