Inclusion

Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) addresses unequal power relations between women and men and between different social groups. It focuses on the need for action to re-balance these power relations and to ensure equal rights, opportunities, and respect for all individuals regardless of their social identity. The Constitution of Nepal (2015) envisions Nepal as an inclusive state and guarantees the right to equality for all its citizens. It has provisioned for women’s fundamental rights and also is inclusive towards Janajatis, Dalits, and Madhesis. If development is to effectively contribute to poverty alleviation, social equality, and economic growth, it must be undertaken as inclusively as possible. A socially inclusive society is one where all people feel valued, their differences are respected, and their basic needs are met to live in dignity. Henceforth, DEPROSC-Nepal recognizes inclusion as one of the major aspects to embed in all the themes it works.
Overall objective of embedding inclusion into other themes will be to bring socially excluded, marginalized, and ethnic people into development mainstream for their socio-economic transformation and ensure DEPROSC-Nepal remains a gender transformative development organization and contributes to the cause. The strategies will be adapted on programme and institutional level
