AchievementsProvided technical support to adopt the social mobilization process and awareness campaign to complete the 15 slots of enrollments. Enrolled more than 59,500 members from 14,500 HHs. Supported to convert the local structure to the local NGO. Mobilized DEPROSC-Nepal’s 6 staff to support the local NGO’s Staff and committee members for every step to execute the micro health insurance scheme. Collected NRs. 2,14,20,000 premium and reimbursed 87% of the premium to insured members for the claim of health expenses. The project supported one dollar or Rs. 90.00 per enrolled member to increase the strength of the premium fund to cope with the catastrophic situation. Conducted 8 events of preventative and curative health training for local staff and community members. Similarly, 2 events of leadership training for committee members and, 6 events of child health and nutrition training were also conducted for local staff and community members.


Prepare Choosing Health Plan Altogether (CHAT) Board for conducting exercises with the community members to finalize the insurance package. Brochures were prepared to provide the information to the community members on Micro health insurance. The family floater package was introduced after the execution of the individual package. Basic micro health training was provided to all project-related staff and refresher training was also provided each year during the project periods. Monthly meetings of claim and coordination committees were organized to reimburse the claim amount and control the moral hazards. An Insurance policy was generated and distributed for a family. An agreement was made with 5 local service providers/ hospitals and one national hospital to get a discount on health expenses to CBMHIP members using identity cards provided by the insurance scheme. The scheme had merged with government health insurance after starting health insurance program by the government. Only health related program and awareness raising program have continued by the locally developed NGO named Saubhagya with collaboration to local government.
 
This program clearly established the premium mechanism Rs. 436 per person per year that benefitting up to Rs. 52,500 per family per. This has worked as good reference for Government of Nepal while introducing “Swasthya Beema” for the first time
