DEPROSC-Nepal is among the pioneer of Microfinance/Rural Finance and Financial services in Nepal. It implemented direct lending to underprivileged families through their female members following grameen model, with license from the Nepal Rastra Bank under the Financial Intermediary Act 1998 to work as financial intermediary in an integrated approach trying to balance social and economic prosperity of its beneficiaries. After contributing in microfinance sector for nearly 15 years and empowering thousands of rural people, esp. rural women through access to finance; It handed over its microfinance portfolio to two national level micro finance institutions; Deprosc Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha in 2002 and NADEP Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha in 2015. Both financial institutions are now doing well in the market. Initially, when DEPROSC-Nepal handed over these institutions, there was over 49862 members, NRs. 1,200,122,986 loan and NRs. 491,533,353.00 as savings, but now they have grown and providing financial services around 500,000 families with more than 28 billion of loan portfolio. It has completed 15 projects benefitting 139,855 households under the theme.
