BACKGROUND

The USAID/Nepal-funded KISAN II project is improving food security in twenty Hill and Terai districts in the Western, Mid-Western and Far-Western regions of the country and four districts in the Central region. The purpose of the project is to increase resilience, inclusiveness, and sustainability of income growth in the Feed the Future Zone of Influence. KISAN II will help lead firms, input suppliers, and private sector change agents catalyze agricultural productivity, competitive market systems, a stronger enabling environment, and business and literacy skills for households in two Zones of Influence.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

KISAN II component 4 aims to increase the ability of vulnerable communities so that they better act on business opportunities around them and particularly within selected market systems. This component will enhance the literacy and business skills through a number of community trainings. The project requires a consultant Translator who is able to translate the training modules from Nepali language to English language. There will be at least five modules to translate. Name of modules are: Nutrition, Life Skills, Entrepreneurship Skills, Access to Finance and Business Development. Specific responsibilities of the Translator will be:

  • Read the modules that are in Nepali language, and get prepared for a briefing meeting,
  • Get a briefing from LBSD,
  • Translate one module at a time as briefed,
  • Share draft translation and collect feedback from LBSD and other KISAN II staff (as assigned),
  • Submit the hard copy and soft copy of translated modules,
  • Translate all modules following the same process.

Total number of pages will be 400-500 (several pages will have pictures and the average font size is 22 at pagemaker) for you to translate in English from Nepali.

The applicant will submit an application letter citing his/her prior experience and if possible reference or certification from similar work earlier, proposed rate per page (rate per word is also fine), other conditions if any. If required, pages will be counted as per the Nepali modules of KISAN II. DEPROSC will shortlist and inform only the shortlisted candidates for further selection, which will include a brief practical session.

At the completion of selection process, a contract will be signed between DEPROSC/KISAN II and Translator, citing timeline for order, advance, delivery and other conditions.
